How to Set a Default Customer Type
To speed up your checkout process, you can configure your point-of-sale (POS) system to automatically pre-select your most frequently used customer category. By using the Set Default Customer Type setting, the system will autofill the Customer Type (C-Type) field for every new order, saving your staff from having to select it manually each time.
Part 1: Configuring the Default Customer Type
Follow these steps to choose which customer category should be loaded by default.
- Navigate to your main Settings and open the POS Global Settings window.
- Scroll through the settings configuration until you locate the Set Default Customer Type field.
- Click the dropdown menu to view a list of all your created customer categories (for example: Express, Premium, Cash Customer, Membership 50%, etc.).
*[Image: POS Global Settings window showing the Set Default Customer Type dropdown menu expanded]* - Select the customer type you wish to set as the default (e.g., select Premium).
- Click the Save Settings button in the bottom right corner of the window to apply your new default setting.
Part 2: Viewing the Applied Default in the POS
Once saved, the system will immediately begin applying this default to your order screen.
- Return to your main POS dashboard where you take new orders.
- Look at the C-Type (Customer Type) field located in the top right corner of the screen.
*[Image: Main POS dashboard showing the C-Type field in the top right corner automatically populated with the chosen default type]* - You will notice that the field is already populated with your chosen default (e.g., Premium).
- If you ever wish to change the system-wide default again, simply return to the Global Settings, choose a different category from the dropdown (e.g., switch it to Express), and save. The POS screen will automatically update to reflect the new default choice.
Good to Know
Even though a default customer type is automatically selected for convenience, your staff can still manually click the C-Type dropdown on the POS screen and choose a different category for individual, one-off orders when necessary.
