How to Automatically Update Customer Names During an Order
The Always Update Customer Name feature allows your staff to quickly correct or change a customer's registered name directly from the main point-of-sale (POS) screen. Instead of navigating to a separate customer management page, simply edit their name while taking a new order, and the system will automatically update their profile once the order is saved.
Part 1: Enabling the Feature
You must first enable this permission in your global settings before staff can update names on the fly.
- Navigate to your main Settings and open the POS Global Settings window.
- Use the search bar at the top of the window and type "always update" to quickly locate the correct setting.
- Find the option labeled Always update customer name.
*[Image: POS Global Settings window highlighting the "Always update customer name" toggle switch]* - Click the toggle switch to enable it (turn it ON).
- Click the Save Settings button in the bottom right corner of the window to apply your changes.
Part 2: Updating a Customer's Name
Once enabled, updating a customer's name becomes a seamless part of the standard checkout process.
- Return to your main POS dashboard.
- Use the top search bar to find and select an existing customer from the dropdown list.
- Once the customer is selected, click directly into the Customer Name text box at the top left of the screen.
*[Image: Main POS screen showing the Customer Name field being edited]* - Type in the new name or make your desired corrections (for example, updating "Deepu" to "Deepu AiPSoft").
- Proceed with the order normally by adding the customer's items to the cart.
- Click Save Order & Print (or your standard save button) to complete the transaction.
*[Image: Completed order confirmation or WhatsApp alert pop-up]* - Verification: The customer's profile is now permanently updated. If you view your recent orders list (e.g., "Orders made today"), you will see the new, updated name reflected immediately on the order record.
Important Note
The customer's name will not be permanently updated in the system database until you actually save and finalize an order. Simply typing a new name in the box without processing an order will not save the changes to the customer profile.
