How to Process Sales Returns Without an Admin Password

To protect your business from unauthorized refunds, the point-of-sale (POS) system defaults to a secure mode that requires an Admin password whenever a user tries to access the Sales Return module. However, if you want your standard staff or cashiers to process returns quickly without needing a manager's physical approval every time, you can enable the Allow sales return without Password feature.

Part 1: The Default Security Prompt

Before changing any settings, it is helpful to understand the default behavior of the return module.

1. On the main POS dashboard, when a user clicks the Menu button and selects Sales Return, the system blocks access.
2. An Authentication Required window pops up, prompting the user to "Please enter admin password for authentication."

3. Without entering the correct password, the staff member cannot proceed to the return screen.

Part 2: Enabling the Password Bypass

If you wish to remove this security prompt, you must be logged in as an Administrator to change the configuration.

1. Navigate to your main Settings menu and open the POS Global Settings window.
2. Click on the POS Local Settings tab at the top of the window.
3. Look through the general settings until you find the toggle labeled Allow sales return without Password.

4. Click the toggle switch to enable it (turn it ON).
5. Click the Save Settings button in the bottom right corner of the screen to apply your changes.

Part 3: Accessing Returns Without a Password

Once the setting is saved, the workflow for your staff will be completely uninterrupted.

1. Return to the main POS dashboard.
2. Click the Menu button and select Sales Return.
3. The system will completely bypass the authentication requirement and immediately take you to the Sales Return selection screen, allowing the cashier to process the refund right away.
